random thinking; do we get our papers back when they've been marked or not?
we got trials back
so do we get them back? or just our marks? or not even our marks, and just the certificate?

also- we got told by teachers a while back that if you write about dark themes such as suicide, abuse, homicide etc. that you get investigated or something like that to make sure that everythings alright upstairs
is this true?
and if so, what if you were writing in the crime genre? say that you were a detective of some sort, or you were involved in a murder case etc.
would this also apply?

You only get your aligned marks (although I am sure that following the Ombudsman's Report on the Raw Marks issue regarding the BOS you could apply for them).

The markers don't actually put any marks on the papers on which you write. The reason you get your trials back is that they are set by the school, even if the school buys them from outside they are still regarded as school set because the teacher/s have to see them before you do whereas the actual SC exams are externally set and your teachers can't see them until an hour of the scheduled time has elapsed. You teachers write on the trials to help you understand how to improve but the SC markers are just awarding a mark with explanation required as to why they gave that mark.

The comment about suicide etc is a Child Protection issue. If we come across something we report it up the chain from the Senior Marker to the Supervisor of Marking who reports it to the BoS but if you think about it that is a good thing - if a student is writing a lot about suicide then it could be a cry for help and the markers would be failing in their duty of care not to report it. It is very much a case of 'better safe than sorry'. That being said I think if you make it clear that the writing is 'creative' and not personal they won't do anything but where they aren't sure they will act.
