My teacher said metaphor - things are clear but confused. Possibly trapped?

fair - I thought so too. The Moon here could represent the fragmented relationship between nature and humans in modernity..... hence by "lunar synthesis" ig Eliot enforces society becoming trapped in this cycle of urbanisation and subsequent dehumanisation....

Definitely something to consider, would work nicely in a paragraph with similar themes presented in Prufrock.
