i can't believe it. after one hour of chemistry revision i started answering questions from the end-of-chapter exercise.

first question: define an acid.

i realised that i didn't know what an acid was.

Don't worry Dreamerish, it happens to all of us, the definition questions manage to throw most people in the science subjects. Just try to refer the questions to the dotpoints when you feel panicky and reword it and slide in the info you have learned. In this case you would refer to the dotpoint about historical development of ideas and Lowry-Bronsted- an acid is a proton(H+) donor etc.
