I'm having a bit of difficulty starting/writing my captain speech. The topic isn't your usual, what can you bring to the school, why you should be captain etc. The topic is "Who would you like to spend time with and why? Prepare a 3-5minute talk displaying your personality, delivery, confidence and insight." Most of the other kids are doing a fairly personal one like family, friends and students. I would love to do my Grandpa for this topic, and its NOT intended for do sympathy votes as he truly fits a leader in my opinion!
I was just going to do some of his values like he was chief engineer at his work, exceptional listener, valued other's opinions, optimistic and always positive, always had a go despite failure, never gave up and then going on to say that these are some qualities i value deeply, thus telling the audience something about myself.
Are there any qualities you can think of that a person could have that are needed in leadership roles? And is this the right way to go about it?
Thanks!
