I just recently checked the unsw site and they posted this regarding how they selected applicant for interview places.
Edit: i just put the link in.
Here's the link:http://notes.med.unsw.edu.au/home/medweb.nsf/website/2.2.LocalStudentsFAQFrom UNSW website:
This information is designed to inform people about the minimum predicted UAI and actual UMAT scores that were needed to be selected for interview in Sept/Oct 2004.
· If the sum of the 3 UMAT scores (the actual mark not the percentile rank) was 152 the predicted UAI to obtain an interview was 100.
· If the combined UMAT (as defined above) was 169 the predicted UAI to obtain an interview was 99.50.
This Table gives other cut off scores:
Actual UMAT Predicted UAI required for offer of interview
152 100.0
169 99.5
176 99.0
192 98.0
205 97.0
219 96.0
232 95.0
When we know actual, as distinct from predicted, UAI scores we will know the further group of applicants to interview. We do not expect to offer interviews to students whose combined UAI and UMAT are significantly different from the above Table.
We are unable to provide further feedback in addition to the information provided above. In particular we are unable to tell you the likelihood that you will be offered an interview.
