i don't think anyone should die in jail/gaol. i don't care if they killed a million people with their hands, it was premeditated and my own family was apart of it.. i'd still say no. No one deserves to die like that.

we live in a very rich country...why?..cos we can afford to keep our killers and feed them three times a day...
True, we also pay our druggos and those unwilling to look for work.

At the same time our country is not only intellectually poor, its also morally and ethically poor. But meh... worst comes to worst we can release all those killers and get rid of those who fall into the lower rungs of our society and save ourselves some money.

*rolls eyes*

while rotting in prison for life is debatably worse than the death sentence (more prolonged) at least it could be reversed if necessary. Even if that is pretty unlikely.

If he did what he is accused of, ie premeditated triple murder of entire family, then he probably deserves his life sentence.

Which country has greater morals than us? Why are we intellectually poor?...

BTW... everything I've read says he definately did it.
Anyone know what defence he had? if any?
urgh... morals = we (as a country.. yes along with many/most others) think 'Sure let him rot in jail/gaol'... and this is a totally normal and standard practise... go figure.

Intellectually poor was a reference to forking out $$$$ to pay for killers, rapists and other assorted criminals to eat, watch tv, work and such not.... but yet students are paying $$$$ to learn... education being a basic human right and should be available to all not just those who can afford it regardless of age or other defining attribute. Also it costs nothing for a criminal in jail to get an education btw... its all apart of their rehab... but yet people who are taking steps so that they don't end in rehab/jail are the ones forking out kudos of $$$$.

once again go figure.

And as to his defence... who knows. I havent heard anything about it... once again we are only hearing one side of the story! (No surprise there.)

You yourself are morally poor if you can't feel sorry for ur fellow man... sometimes.
I used to think like you, but could you imagine staying in gaol for 6 months? 3 weeks? 1 week? It's not a fun place.

Education is not a basic human right, it's a right of being an australian tho, and it is available to all (in australia) the issue labor has brought up is whether education funding should be equal across the board (even if parents wish to spend more on their child's education)
I do feel sorry for 'my fellow man'... sometimes. Sometimes tho they do deserve what they get. *shrugs* Of course gaol isnt a fun place.. its fkn horrible and depending on your crime, sexuality or colour (race and several other attributes) you're just as likely to come out in a body bag... no misunderstanding there. But i don't think anyone deserves to die in gaol... regardless of horrific crime or not.

Education is a basic human right... check the udhr, its there. And i'm not trying to bring up politics in this thread (much less anything to do with labour), it was just pointing out that in goal you can get an education and not pay for it, get fed and not pa for it etc... whereas out here we're forking it out hand over fist.

Purely a gut instinct, but I still don't think he did it.

But his family did?

-------------------------------

He did do it, its been proved beyond reasonable doubt that he did brutally slay his family.

He deserves to rot in gaol for an eternity.

No no one deserves that. The point of our entire system of justice and punishment is you're innocent till proven guilty then after you've done your time or been rehabilitated then thats the end of the matter. None of that falls into the catagory of 'omg go rot in a cell for the rest of your life you @#!@#$'. Thats not how humans are, nor how we should aspire to be. Its cold and heartless..

I don't care how they died, or who killed them they didn't deserve to die like that, but thats no justification to say that he should rot in gaol because he was convicted of it. NO ONE deserves to die a death like that... criminal or not. And there is no way to justify death like that.

I don't know if it was proved to beyond a resonable doubt or not... as far as any one outside the courts was concerned the media had sentenced him already. That doesn't prove to me he did it, and i sure as fk don't trust the courts and their associated leeches.

and whats wrong with the courts?
There is no better alternative...he probably wants him to go to a few counselling sessions and then let him go re-offend.

no-one deserves to die in prison...if that person demonstrates true repentance, then why not let them free?
