Is that not stating the obvious in an essay?

So i have three text that deal with journeys- am I to say that text 1 is different to text 2&3 because it is a film or it is about imaginative, or more applicable to a certain audience etc.

Can someone tell me how to write similarities and differences without sounding too boring to the reader and boring to yourself

(when note the obvious differences such as genre, i feel i'm saying stuff that my six year old sister can say)

Similarities and Differences should always be referring to contextual themes and values, not the actual medium of the text itself. ie "In TextB, The mother, portrayed thru the use of juxtaposition, shows her journey through life in two different stages. This draws comparisons to the character of Julie in TextB, who retells her journey through Europe by juxtaposing the beginning and end"

yeah you do need to talk about the medium, but only in terms of what those particular things tell you about the composer's purpose (eg. how it conveys the themes and values). and make sure you use terms for that medium..
if you compare a film to a novel, you could say that the cinematography delivers instantaneous visual impact vs. descriptive language.
but i don't think you need to compare your texts for AOS though? aos is more establishing a thesis, comparing will make it very messy.. that's more module A.

you will definitely need to 'state the obvious', except try not to say it in the way a 6 year old would. :p
