hey guys i am trying to do that case thingy that simon wants and i know i have to identify inductive, deductive, premise, conclusion, etc and i know he wants it planned out like a flow diagram

how are you guys setting it out? is it like the number ones? and if so, are you writing the whole sentence?

thanks :)

judging by what he did with DvS - we are meant ot i guess take the general whole idea of the ratio - ie DvS = Neighbour principle so took the general principles of prior cases etc and formulated using this cicrcumstance a single principle, and then also created a single principle applicable to numerous cases - so it was inductive and deductive

and i guess, you could kinda do is it modus tollens etc thing but im assuming we're meant to do like a general type thing since judgements are mighty big.. at least i hope:)

today he gave us a handout but not enough for everyone so it will be on webct...he thought we still didnt understand diagrams properly therefore, gave us more practice ones and then we had to present the diagram in groups which took up about 1 hr then we spent the other hr doing a panel where we talked about the judgments in donoghue v stevenson and the carpark case

that's all :)

in our class (not simon's obviously) we get out like 45 mins early... so annoying!!

i'm worried we're missing out on stuff and he's a bit scattery when teaching, despite being highly intelligent.

i doubt it...

everyone in 2nd yr+ i've talked to says he's reallly good - covers everything you need to know for the exam

plus, he's unit coordinator so i woulnd't worry too much - if he doesn't cover something, he isn't gonna put it in the exam:)

Simon tends to explain things in a few different way so you can understand it better and we do panel discussions, so we go thru the questions an dthen discuss them again from 2 sides.. so its kinda going over the same stuff to get a better understanding if Simon thinks we don't understand it..

so i doubt we're doing anything like, extra:)

Simon doesn't like finishing early and he is very thorough about his teaching. I think it's great. I hear Scott is also a great lecturer. I can only say that each have their own way of getting to the same thing.
