For Israel, the Six Day War was their greatest military victory, and led to a new policy of "defensible borders" advocated by Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan. Israel believed they were invincible, and gained territories such as the Golan Heights and Sinai.

Then the arrogance led to them nearly getting creamed by the Arabs in the Yom Kippur
War in 1973. BUT, they managed to pull themselves together and kick the arabs again!
why do they have to lose every war that they fight?

in answer to ur q about the 6 day war

The 1967 Six –Day War

•Course of the War
-Israel: pre-emptive strike on Egypt; aircrafts appeared over Egyptian airfields & shattered them.
-Military airbases in Jordan & Syria were devastated later that day.
-Egyptian defences were broken & Israel advanced. Within 6 days, Israel reached the Suez Canal & taken over the Sinai Peninsula.
-Jordan entered to relieve Egypt but was driven out of the previously occupied West Bank & occupied Jerusalem.
-7TH June: ceasefire called on. Syria refused. Israeli forces moved northwards & captured the Golan Heights.

•Results
-Israel gains control of
1)Sinai Peninsula, 2) Gaza Strip, 3) West Bank (Jordan), 4) Golan Heights
-Deep psychological effects experienced by Arabs & Israelis.

Significance= reffirmed their own securities about ther strengths & made them feel like, in a sense, undefeatable.( increased their confidence)

PS: WHEN ARE YOUR TRIAL EXAMS PPL? & IF UVE HAD THEM, HOW WERE THE Q'S?? E-Z, HARD?? aNY INSIGHT WOULD HELP (i need a good mark!!!!)

IT WOULD BE NICE IF PPL CPOULD POST THE Q'S FOR OTHERS TO REVISE. I CERTAINLY WILL ONCE MY EXAM IS OVER!!!
