hey im working out my timetable and while ill b in a lecture for psych, ill b missing out on one on sociology. theres no way around it either coz those are the only 2 lectures available on that day if u get wat i mean.

is it ok to miss the sociology one and get notes etc on the web? i figure it would b more important going to the psych one seeing its my major

you can always do socio/psych in another session.

i try not to miss any lectures cuz the notes on the web arn't that comprehensive as what the lecturer goes thru, but then again it depends on the lecturer if he/she will want to write detailed notes.

i am in the same situation, with 2 other subjects. one thing to consider is if either of the courses are recorded in the library. other than that i think i will just have to skip one and catch up later / with recorded ones. also, with some courses you can buy the lecture notes from the bookshop.

Okay... for everyone.

You aren't allowed to do units which clash. There. :p

Wrong. You are allowed to :)
It's highly not recommended though.
I'm doing two subjects that clash for one hour this year.

I also enquired about this to the Student Enquiry Service, this is the reply i got.

Thank you for your email.

Although we do not recommend your absence from lectures, the enrolment system will allow you to enrol in two subjects that have clashing lecture times.

Best Regards,

Melissa
I wouldn't recommend this to first years at uni though.

Yep, you can.
Uni's great it's really upto you what you want to do. Unlike at high school :D

This can be a major disadvantage though...

if you have to skip your lectues make sure you go to tutes.

or if you're super confident, skip them all, like Majesty :p

I skipped many a STAT171, MATH133 and COMP115 lecture... ACST101 and ACST211 tutorial... and made no difference at all, besides allowing me to get to uni a couple hours later or leave a couple of hours earlier :D
