hey guys i need help wit this question:
Water is flowing downwards through a vertical sand column. The length of the column L = 120 cm, the cross-sectional area A = 200 cm2 , the head difference (h1- h2) = 120 cm. The sand in the column has a porosity n = 0.36 and hydraulic conductivity k =20 m/d. Determine: (a) the rate of flow (Q) and the Darcy velocity (v). (b) The average velocity of the flow in the column (vs).
Q=kia
20*10^2*120/120*200
Q=4*10^4 cm^3/d
apparently the ans is 4.6cm^3/s
