According to Table 3, Maths and Maths Ext 2 both have 50 (on a 1u basis) as the scaled mark.

Why should the top Maths student have the same scaled mark as the top Maths Ext 2 student?
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of doing Maths Ext 2 if you know you can top 2u Maths and get 100 (except for having 4 units of Maths for UAI calculation)?

I think the reward is the extra two (rather nice) units you receive by taking the higher level of maths.
