It is compulsory to undertake courses in at least two discipline areas of Science at 1000 level. This is referred to as "two Science pairs". One discipline of Science is studied for three years to achieve what is known as a Major Sequence. A student can major in two areas or concentrate on one area at 3000 level. An example of a degree pattern is outlined below.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1000 Level. At least 60 units comprising:
Two "Science Pairs" selected from two Science discipline areas 1000 level, plus two other 1000 level courses selected from the remaining Science disciplines:
Biological Sciences (either BIOL 1010 and BIOL1020 or BIOL1110 and BIOL1120)
Chemistry (CHEM1010 and CHEM1020)
Geography * (either GEOS1040 and GEOG1020 or GEOS1040 and GEOG1030)
Geology * (GEOS1040 and GEOS1110)
Mathematics (either MATH1110 and MATH1120 or MATH1210 and MATH1220
Physics (PHYS1210 and PHYS1220)
Psychology (PSYC1010 and PSYC1020)
Please note: GEOS1040 is a 1000 level Group A major course common to both the Geography and the Geology disciplines. If undertaking both Geology and Geography as Science pairs, another Science Group A course at 1000 level must be selected to pair with either GEOG1020 or GEOG1030.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2000 Level. At least 60 units comprising:
At least 30 units of 2000 level Bachelor of Science Group A courses selected from one of the two disciplines taken at 1000 level (for example, Chemistry)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3000 Level. At least 60 units comprising:
40 units of 3000 level Bachelor of Science Group A courses selected from the Science discipline taken at 2000 level to complete a Major Sequence (for example, Chemistry)
Plus: other approved courses:
The remaining 90 units are selected from other Bachelor of Science Group A and/or Group B courses.

ok, based on the 1000 level, does that mean i have to do psyc1010 and psyc 1020 + (for example) biol1010 and biol1020 ?
or can i just do pysc1010 and psyc1020
or do i have to do it at 2000 or 3000 level to do that? and can you please explain what 1000,2000,3000 levels are?
if you want to see this done properly, it is at http://ccdb.newcastle.edu.au/courseinfo/displayprogram.cfm?docid=125&FOS=12&UGPG=13, about a quarter of the way down the page.
thanks so much!
