songs fo supplementary texts? (1 Viewer)

Is anyone using any songs for supplementary texts? especially for frontline

not many people seemed to be using them in the thread were people posted thier supplementary texts

is using songs recommended?

I used a song as a supp for Area of Study in the trials. I think unless you analyse the shit out of it, it's gonna be hard.

i dunno i dont sue songs - they arent easy to analyse all you can say is "in the song it says that the "the media is all lies" emphasising that the media can lie" and thats all you can say...

Songs are short and quite hard to analyse. On the other hand they're easy to find and apply random meaning to. I would say that markers may look negatively on songs unless you have a very convincing argument.

Some techniques you may like to look at are:
lyrics - who, what, context
tone
rhythm/meter
rhyme or lack of
key
modulation and effect on tone
analyse it in parts - structure of song overall and structure of each verse/chorus

etc etc.
