Has decided to retire
SOR CourseGlossary Terms, Marking Criteria, Rubric -all SOR candidates should read
Many people are asking questions that show a lack of familiarity with the SOR syllabus (this IMO is not a good thing!!) You should know where things place in the syllabus and more importantly, you should be aware of the wording within the syllabus instead of just going to the dotpoints to get content
(see this thread http://www.boredofstudies.org/community/showpost.php?p=899543&postcount=20)
so,
get the syllabus from http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/pdf_doc/studiesreligion_syl.pdf
and read through it noting the context in which the dotpoints are framed
Also, get the marking criteria and markers comments from:
http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/index.html
2001= http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2001exams/pdf_doc/studies_religion_er01.pdf
2002= http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2002exams/pdf_doc/religion_er_02.pdf
2003= http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2003exams/pdf_doc/religion_er_03.pdf
2004= http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2004exams/pdf_doc/religion_er_04.pdf
2005=http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2005exams/pdf_doc/religion_er_05.pdf
The criteria are VERY important to be familiar with as the criteria are based upon the syllabus and vice versa. The structure is important to know as in reality, to get the best band (wrong term I know) for each question, you just have to answer the question AS IT IS WRITTEN...
Also, be familiar with the rubric that is given at the top of the 20 mark questions as this is essentially the marking criteria!!
see attachment below for eg of rubric
Note: Im not 100% sure but the rubric *may* be slightly different from year to year but it doesnt matter as they still give it to you to use
Also, notice how they tell you what a tradition is... No need to write about the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus is there!??! (Dont laugh..this happens every year)
And to say that you MUST know the glossary verbs/terms like the back of your hand is a given (see downloadable file below and post below)
Also, have a look at the standards package which is mirrored here (http://www.boredofstudies.org/mirror/Standards/2002/SOR/) to some idea about the standard (ie depth and length) that is required by the markers
