This is a "Work Experience in Industry" unit, for which no student contribution or fee is charged. Enrolment in the unit will not consume Student Learning Entitlement (SLE). Students in the Bachelor of Applied Science courses are required to obtain at least ten weeks, vocationally relevant, industrial experience during their course of study. The aim of this learning component is to provide students with opportunities to apply theoretical concepts to real world situations. This aims to assist their personal and professional development through the use of various communication genres. Approved industrial experience aims to provide flexibility for students to pursue areas of interest and to assist in their selection of appropriate elective units in their course. Students are required to organise, formalise and validate at least ten weeks of university approved industry experience within an industrial, commercial or government situation during the course of their study.

However it has no credit points, and I had a look in the timetable of when its available, it says during spring and autumn, however, theres no teaching periods for it.

Does this mean I would have to do 5 subjects one semester, and this subject doesn't have any classes and doesn't contribute to the amount of credit points?

Thanks :)

According to this:
http://handbook.uws.edu.au/hbook/course.asp?course=3569.2

If your doing environmental health you have to do it sometime before the third year because it is a prerequisite for:

Environmental Practice 2 http://handbook.uws.edu.au/hbook/unit.asp?unit=300287.1

in the third year. I think you have to do four subjects each semester as per usual and do EH218A as well. You can most likely do it over the summer break but talk to the unit coordinator. Usually with that type of work experience you have to organise it yourself with a company or organisation apply to a local council is your best bet and get the approval of the course coordinator. If you can't find somewhere to do it talk to the course coordinator s/he should know groups you can approach.

I don't do environmental health. I do, environmental management and tourism, and this unit is not a pre-req for my last year subjects.

:S....
its says external? even so it should say the credit points. My previous degree: B Tech (It Support) also had a practicum and it says all the creedit poitns etc. so only option is to call the coordinater to clarify.
i think that you might have to do 5 subs...my previos degree was like that too, 5 subs...
