Check out a magazine. New Scientist has an editorial first up every issue :D

Editorials have:

1. An intro, body and conclusion
2. An objective explanation of the issue
3. A timely news angle
4. Opinions from opposing viewpoint that refute directly the same issues the writer addresses
5. Opinions of the writer delievered in a pro manner. Good editorials engage issues.
6. Alternative solutions to problem or issue being criticized
7. A solid and concise conclusion that powerfully summarizes the writer's opinion.
