I would drop either hospitality or biology, because they're your worst marks. However, your ranks are also important, BUT hospitality and biology doesn't scale toooo well. I would also think of what career you want or what course you want to do in uni next year, because some courses have prerequisites. Either way, I always got told to do subjects I enjoy, so figure out what you enjoy the most because that is what you'll be more passionate to study and it won't be a struggle for you. Good Luck!

The following table gives the maximum scaled (unseen) mark awarded in the state in the 2011 HSC; and in brackets the cutoff scaled mark for the top 1% in the state:

Maths X1: 100 (97.6)
Maths X2: 100 (98.2)
Chemistry: 100 (92.4)
Biology: 99.4 (90.4)
ESL: 98.8 (90.0)
Vietnamese: 97.4 (96.2)
Hospitality: 88.2 (80.8)

It is extremely unlikely that Hospitality will count for you. Although Vietnamese drops off pretty steeply after the top 1% of the state. Here is a direct comparison (on scaled marks) between these two subjects:

Vietnamese: 96.2 (99th percentile); 74.4 (90th percentile); 57.4 (75th percentile); 40.2 (50th percentile)
Hospitality: 80.8 (99th percentile); 67.8 (90th percentile); 55.4 (75th percentile); 39.2 (50th percentile)

So it really depends how you expect to do statewide in each subject.

Since you have already stated you like biology, that is why you're keeping it. Out or Vietnamese and hospitality, decide which one you will enjoy more. The logic is, that if you like a subject more, you will tend to do significantly better in it because you will spend more time on it. So apply that same logic.

If you are indifferent to both subjects or like then equally, choose the one you are doing better or rank better in. From the sounds of it, it seems you are doing better in Vietnamese.

Good luck with your decision!

Where did you find those stats? Just curious
