Hi im in a little bit of a dilemma choosing my subjects for year 12 considering that I want to get 99.95 or at least 99 for med...
right now I have 13 units but I need to drop down.
English extention
VA - rank1
Chem - top 10
Legal - rank 3
Maths ext 2 - but at the cuttoff for the 4u class so rank 90
I go to a top 5 selective school so maths would scale pretty well but i'm aiming for state rank in legal and VA if I do it. Also english extention is a bit of a gamble because my marks for extention are pretty ok but my english advanced is quite bad...
pls help :)

In my experience, if you dropped E1 you'd have more time for advanced to potentially make that better (when I picked up E2 my marks for E1 dropped significantly, so I'd assume it would be somewhat similar for E1 to advanced). I'd play around with an ATAR calculator and see what subjects are counting and which ones are not with your predicted marks and such in the actual calculation of your ATAR, and go from there. Considering you want to do med keeping Chem and potentially 4u maths (depending on what branch of medicine and such you want to go into also) could be wise. Throwing away your rank 1 subject for VA is pretty risky in my opinion, plus it relieves some pressure during the actual HSC period because some of your mark comes from the Major Work.

Good luck!
