We have to deliver a speech for Physics on Friday, and I just noticed that we have to submit the notes we use for the speech after we have given it. I just thought this was stupid... why the hell do they need those? They're marking our ability to speak, not our ability to write notes for the speech - sure, part of it would be ability to USE notes, but not actually make them. Stupid stupid stupid.

They might think you're making it up. That shows how much physics teachers know :p.

But seriously, they probably want to know whether you copied or not (by not doing your own research- the speech might be different, but not the notes).

Also if during your speech you make a factual error and it is correct in your notes, then you won't be marked down as much.
They also might be looking for references. Have you been asked to include that in your notes?
