i have read peoples notes and everyone seems to think that the succession was straightfrward... Xerxes succession.. i think people need to read there sources cos there is a fair few variations on this and it wasn't that simple

well there is a herodotus account 7.1-5 whcih explains the arguments of both the brothers etc
then Plutarch plut. Moralia 488.d which kinda gives a different outlook and says that darius was dead when the dispute was settled and names a differnet son to that of Hdt
Justin just2.10 also has a take on it and again another son name is put forward.
