I was just curious to see how much we need to know about each type of support for parents and carers. The syllabus states:
* health services
* welfare agencies
* parenting groups
* community groups
* government agencies
* childcare services
* carer's support groups
When the syllabus says we need a general understanding of each support group, agency or service available for parents and carers, with a requirement to investigate one in detail, what does general mean? Could they specify which type of support service we would need to talk about, or would they ask something like, "Describe one support service available for parents and carers"?

I know this might sound silly, but we did this in the last week of term and there is no advice line for CAFS.

Thanks in advance.

In my trials and topic tests they have specified in short and long answers, they asked questions like: what health services are available to whatever group and what are the implications for accessing them. We had a whole assignment based on each one of those and had to research services for each one and which groups access them etc. I'm just remembering a few example from each one to go with each group then studying two groups in more detail.
I hope that kind of helps.

It just seems like a lot of work for one section of the syllabus. You are probably right though.

Thankyou for that.......What are some examples of agencies and support services have you found? I found Karitane, Tresillian, the Exodus Foundation, the Salvation Army and a few other little ones. If we are to have a general understanding of all the groups, would it include knowing what each of the organisations do in regards to say heath services, welfare agencies or whichever category they fall into? And also on another note, I do not mean to sidetrack, but does CAFS still scale lower even if you get a Band 6? The SAM said it scaled lower, no matter what mark I put in...

yeh i think its still scaled low still, i try not to think about scaling, all my subjects are scaled low :( , sam never seems to let me sign in it always says i have the wrong password so i just gave up.

For my assignment i had

* health services- The childrens hospital
* welfare agencies- Kids help line
* parenting groups- Single parent family association
* community groups- Meals on wheels
* government agencies- centrelink carer allowances
* childcare services- eaglenest childcare, that was a place near me
* carer's support groups- carers NSW

some of them have lots of services and some you just have to pick ones from locally i guess, the ones you have a good ones just make sure you have them for the right groups i guess, i'd send you my assignment i got full marks for it but its not on my computer!

No, that's ok, I would feel bad to just copy them. You have already helped me heaps. I have more direction now. Thanks heaps again. It is greatly appreciated.
