Taking it easier? (1 Viewer)

Okay, I breezed through Advanced Maths for all of Year 9 and 10, but I chose to do General Maths for 11 & 12 so I wouldn't have to spend much time on it as other subjects. It's proven to be a wise choice, as so far I've been doing really well in General Maths in-class exams and such, without doing hardly any study at all. What I wanna ask is, do you think it'd be okay for me to just spend less time studying (say, 50%) on General Maths seeing I find it so easy, in order to have more time for studying for other subjects? Let me know what you think..

different people need different amounts of time to understand and grasp the concepts of general maths.. if you cruise through and get above 90% with minimal study then keep up your routine but if you start to go below 80% in assessments you obviously need to be spending more time doing your maths homework..
i had that attitude but when i got to my hsc time and averaged out my raw assessment mark to be 79 i thought crap i need to work my ass off for the hsc.. and spent alot of time doing practice papers before the hsc which paid off in my maths mark.. but yeh dont get to that stage where you realise you dont know alot and your assessment mark is low and you need to totally stress out about it prior to the hsc

I thought about taking general maths as the easy road out, but i didn't... i stuck with advanced. I think i regret it. I don't know yet!

Well I didn't take Gen Maths as the 'easy road out', I took it because I am not going to need high level maths for the courses at Uni I want And I still wanted to do a maths subject, so I chose Gen Maths for a relatively easy, solid course I know I can do well in without much work

for sure but like cro-angel make sure your marks don't slip.

i did advanced maths in year 9 and 10 and 2 unit in year 11 and then dropped to general in year 12. i didnt study much but just made sure i worked in class. if you are consistently revising stuff, not necessarily studying it much then you should be fine if you find you are understanding the concepts fairly easily.

Thanks for the advice ! I revise maths a couple of times a week, and I have all of the concepts covered to my best ability :]

What croangel said is spot on!

The other thing is just a psychological advantage. Sure you need to keep up to speed with your Maths, but you're confident and happy about it. That's a plus! And I'm sure you've got other subjects to stress about!
