Hey there all,

I'm after any and all second hand textbooks that you never want to use again. Instead - get some money for them.

My main interests are law/engineering/history/politics. Although I'll prolly buy textbooks from other disciplines anyway. I just want them for reference.

Good idea with the buying of textbooks for refs.

As for the invitation to treat - you are spot on! There is authrity in Common Law that advertisements are generally invitations to treat.

but the invitation to treat is only in the context of a shop. A written statement such as that above can be construed as an offer to buy, its worthwhile to be safe... )

I am exactly like you, I like my refs and so I never sell my books.

In re to the offer/invitation - you are actually safe. The reason is: your offer is inconclusive. We don't what you want exactly, how much for, etc... When this arises, your contract is incomplete and more importantly you have still left aspects to be negotiated, an offer cannot therefore be made.

well..if you are actually interested in books... as it is hard to tell if you actually were or if you just wanted a catalyst for a pointless discusion in "contracts speak"...

I have heaps that i'm not going to use again since the units are done and i'm not doing electives related to them... a torts one, a few economics ones, a few HR ones, a few foreign affairs related ones... PM me about it if you want details.
