hello,

does anyone have any ideas about the training needed for telecommunications engineering

Non-University entry into Telecommunications Technician:
Complete a traineeship in Electrotechnology Data Communications, Electrotechnology Communications, Telecommunications or Telecommunications ( Cabling ).
Entry requirements may vary, but employees generally require Year 10. More details on traineeships, see the New Apprenticeships section or call the New Apprenticeships Referral Line on 1800 639 629 ( FREECALL )
Training is usually on and off the job. The off-the-job training is provided through registered training organisations, including TAFE. Upon sucessful completion of training, telecommunications technicians may be required to apply for registration and endorsements as required by the Australian Telecommunications Authrority.

University entry into Telecommunications Engineering:

University of Sydney - The core program in the first two years is in common with the Electrical and Computing engineering programs. Stduents in the third and forth years specialise in electronics and optics, computer systems, electromagnetic, signal and communication systems and telecommunications software and engineering management.

Career Opportunities: employment in such ares as optical fibres, telecommunications systems management, multimedia, data communications, satellite and cellular mobile systems.

Electrical Engineering: course progresses from foundations in physics, mathematics, computer science and basic engineering principles in the first year
