LOL, i always hated pracs!! =/
theory only? gawsh.. its so boring ! not like the pracs are interesting anyway. ahah reminds me, we did this prac today in physics where everyone had to line up in 2 rows and throw 2 tennis balls back and forth with your partner. that was it. it was apprently to model semi-conductors. rather pathetic i say. also, another prac was to turn on the radio. geez we had to write it up too:
aim: to turn on a radio
method: take the long string from the radio and look for the bulbous end
make sure the metal lines up with the power point socket and stick in
careflly, turn the powerpoint on

geez some prac !

Went to an OH&S training day yesterday and one of the teachers from the school was there. It really was a freak accident...... Years 7's were doing a basic experiment (heating something in water to extract something...yeah, I know. Good scientific description) and the beakers just exploded. There wasnt ten kids involved though. He said there were about 5 kids and the teacher taken to hospital as she was 8 months pregnant so they didnt want to take any chances. Only 1 kid was hurt enough to get stitches- the others were just lacerations. It was lucky that they were wearing the proper safety gear as it could have been a lot worse..........

I don't think they would let year 7's use metho, its only the start of the school year.

My guess is that they could have done it to get their bunsen burner lisences.
