was underwhelmed by the trailer, but the film has potential, even though i'm not crazy about gilliam except for brazil (haven't seen the fisher king).

still, monica bellucci... just sayin', is all...

have you seen the adventures of baron munchausen?
it's a highly flawed film but there's a lot to admire in it

i love gilliam

favourites in order (excluding monty python ventures)
1 - brazil
2 - the adventures of baron munchausen
3 - fear and loathing in las vegas
4 - 12 monkeys
5 - the fisher king
6 - time bandits
7 - jabberwocky

It looks pretty commercial to me. Still, should be pretty enjoyable.

Not a fan of the Monty Python movies walrus?

1. Brazil
2. 12 Monkeys
3. Meaning of Life

I've only seen three of his films, but they've all been very good. 12 Monkeys would be my favourite Gilliam, but Fear and Loathing, as well as Brazil, are superb films. He's a fantastic, quirky and visually stunning director.

I'm more looking forward to Tideland, but i'm sure The Brothers Grimm will be good too.

no just that i'd be listing them above the rest most obviously because they're genius
(except meaning of life - i think brazil is better)

EDIT: gilliam only directed holy grail btw. terry jones did life of brian and meaning of life

everyone should go check out The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
it's amazing to think he got the finances to make such an elaborate and wacky movie

it's a bit uneven, but there are moments that are visually amazing
puts a lot of contemporary directors to shame. they can't pull out anything near as good with the ease of computers

I own a copy of Baron Munchausen, i loved it
terry gilliam is my idol.
someday i would love to make films as good as his.

Anyway back to brothers grimm
if it is indeed released 24th november then as soon as my hangover clears from the 23rd im going to see it.
i hope it isnt a hollywood film filled with special effects.
i hate spielberg, thinks he can make great films with all the moeny he has and technology, he is a pompous git. if he had a small budget i doubt he could make anything good.
thats why i love gilliam.
he is traditional & GREAT.

I cant wait to watch 'lost in la mancha' that will be marvelous.

I just watched the fisher king for the first time and it is one of the greatest movies i have ever seen. Terry Gilliam is a legend. the film has an awesome concept.
it would have been hilarious to see the character Jack sit on the toilet and see the fat faerie's.

If i was you i wouldnt listen to film critics. most of the time the critics have a specific genre they like more than others and perhaps they are not necessarily Gilliam fans. I dont care if they call it 'Worlds worst' or whatever, i am going to be there on the very first day. Also if you look at the role of the critic you can always find a ploy to draw you in to see the film. They will tell you how flawed the film is but in the last paragraph or so they will say they liked it to draw in the audience(and vice versa). That is the main layout of a 'Good' critic's review anyway.

critics have their place

many reviews i read were from people who liked gilliam and were underwhelmed by the end product

First, it's The Brothers Grimm. Second, I haven't seen it because I saw the trailer and thought it looked like crap.
