3. 6-10 hours but only about 2 hours during the trials and HSC tests

4. in the normal times about 6 hours were spent studying (educational) although alot of that was posting on bos about schoolwork or talking on msn about it
2 hours for personal use

5. 90

6. 89.65

7. i actually think it was positive. people on BOS were also interested in their studies and that motivated me. i could also access lots of resources from the net that helped me.

7. Yes, it was positive because all the resources are easy to access over the net and if you need to ask someone a question whilst you are working on it you can show them through various instant messaging programs. Also, BoS is great when you need questions answered and when people ask questions and you can help out too.

I doubt it made much difference, BoS helped. It made me feel guilty and I did waste time, so it wouldn't have been good, but its hard to say if its impact was overall bad. It was great for research of some kinds. So yeah, I spent to much time on the net, but that was my fault. I couldn't have gone much better anyway.

Yes, the use of the internet for multiplayer gaming (most notoriously MMORPGs like WoW) had disrupted my studies significantly, spending the extra 20 to 30 minutes to do a quest or whatever means it can add 10 minutes to the recommended sleeping duration. It's been scientifically calculated that humans need a 1 hour sleep for every 2 hours spent awake. Thus can increase the chance for lateness in the morning and missing out on a class. The use of the internet for academical research platform is very difficult in comparison to using a book for example as a source. Reading an article or papers on a monitor for prolonged periods can prevent you from moving around, while in a book you can take it everywhere as in reading it to/from your way to school.

3. How many hours per week would you spend on the internet? During most of HSC into assessment periods= no more than 10 hours a week.

4 hours personal use

6. What UAI mark did you recieve? 91.40

7. Do you think that the internet impacted on the UAI mark that you received? If yes was it a positive or negative impact?
Definitely positive. If it wasn't for BOS etc. i wouldn't have understood as well many of the concepts relating to english modules for example or even the hsc/uai process in general. Also- speaking about schoolwork in these forums was extremely helpful- you truly know the subject when you can talk about it so easily. I was distracted at times- but it was most definitely a positive distraction; balancing out large amounts of study with 'nothing time', which i wasn't very good at, i now realise. I missed my target because of overstudy + lack of confidence + exam strategy= burnout, not because of the internet.

Mmmmmmmm mostly no, because you can get easily distracted with games and MSN! although, i did get a lot of help from friends on MSN when i have a question i got stuck on at night, or wanted an opinion, and pretty much the time spent chatting about the HSC, 60% of it was bagging it out, saying it was ridiculous, how it can be better, etc...

but i have to say the COMPUTER definitely helped a lot. for english, definitely.
