For the AOS, my prescribed text is "The Simple Gift." In my essay, should i focus on Billy? Or should i talk about how each of the character such as BIlly, Caitlin and Old Billy change over time in relation to belonging? And, if yes, how much do i write on each? I used to write only on BIlly's connections with others. I gotta change the way to get better marks i guess.

2012- An individual's perceptions of belonging evolve in response to the passage of time and interaction with their world.

2011- Explore how perceptions of belonging and not belonging can be influenced by connections to places.

That would depend on the question, your thesis and the techniques you are talking about. You should be able to talk about each one, though, and it would probably make it much better and show you have a good understanding of the prescribed text and the concept of belonging. In each essay I've written I mention each of those characters and how they belong. You can still do this if you want to focus on Billy.
