i used to watch this on and off while it was on tv. but since i like to see every ep of tv shows i watch, i recently went and bought the first 4 seasons on dvd. am currently about halfway through the 3rd season. damn, that ralphie is such a shit

oooooh yeah ralph ciphoretto (sp) is a nasty little weasel. but i think janice is more of a shit. between his mother and his sister, i cant believe Tony made it that far without topping himself.

but you just wait till you see the fifth season, steve buscemi joins and it really gets rolling. im glad to hear you're a fan.

yes i love janice and the mother was hilarious but she is also a psycho bitch. the actress that plays Livia really has that drawl down pat, and so does the actress who plays the younger Livia.

honestly though, i dont think there has ever been such a consistently talented cast in any show. all the characters, even the really minor ones, are all perfectly cast and acted.

like the housekeeper, and the bumbling FBI agents, and all the old women at the "retirement community".

my favourite episode is 'university' from Season 3

an episode where the characters challenge our conceptions of how likable they really are

I've only seen season 1, and I was more impressed with it than I was after I saw The Godfather the first time (apples and oranges I know). Will download the rest at the end of the season.

adriana la serva is way hotter.

there are too many episodes to have a favourite, but one of them has to be "mr Ruggerios neighbourhood" from season 3, the one with the FBI installing the bugged lamp. the music alternates seamlessly between sting's "ill be watching you" and the peter gunn theme. genius.

does anyone else think that the show is hilarious? the actor who plays the son AJ has perfect comic timing.

and one of my fave lines from season 2:
tony: (in therapy)
she was very highly strung, my mother...
(flashback to his youth)
livia: (to tony)

that chick is insane.

meadow used to be a fox but i think she's kind of gawky now. she lost a lot of weight in the 4th season and there was suddenly a bikini scene...and she wears ugly clothes, whereas adriana dresses very hot.

one of the funniest parts i think is the shit band that adriana manages and everyone's reactions to their terrible music.

"where is the fucking chorus? its just one big verse!"
