ok, heres the story.
i have 13 units of subjects...
2u biology
2u business studies
2u chemistry
2u adv. english
2u visual arts
2u maths
and
1u maths ext 1

so when the board of studies counts my marks from my top 10 units of my hsc exam. how will it work if part of the top 10 includes one unit of maths ext1. there will be an uneven amount to count... it wont be exactly 10 units to be calculated.

ok, im terrible at explaining but lets say i did really well in maths ext1... how will they count the best ten units to determine my uai when there is 1unit included in there? if they count my 1u, then its only 9units or 11units. how are they supposed to count my best 10 units?

im confused about how this uai thing works. i dont want my maths ext 1 to be excluded if i end up going well in that exam.

It's very simple. If your 1u of extension maths count, they will only take half of another 2u subject that you didn't do too well. So, basically, they cut that 2u mark in half so it's kind of like a 1u subject.

ooh i have a post somewhere on how ext 1 helps....

See, where it sais "Aggregate Contribution"?
That is the most important thing for your UAI. The higher the total "Aggregate Contribution" is the higher your UAI.
So, even if you can only get 60% for Ex.1 Maths it's better then getting 80 in all those other hard subjects.

Overall: 3u Maths HELPS UR UAI

See how they all say "Band 5" = 80%
and the "E2" in Ex1 maths = 60%

So just divide the "aggregate contribution" of the other subjects and get the best 10 units.

If you can't explain:

x(2) + 1 = odd number

Is Ext Maths really the subject for you?

lol, littlewing you're hilarious.
But try to be a little more constructive, this person is genuinely confused.

Good Luck kimmi.xoxo I'm sure you can get >80 in ex1 maths (which means you'll do really good), but if you can't then you'll still do good cause ex1 maths helps your uai.

Of course, I was just joking. I do no maths at all, myself.

And no subject automatically "helps your UAI". You have to achieve good results in any subject in order to boost your UAI.

If 3 unit maths is only a one unit subject for you, i dont think it'll help that much since you only get a max 50 marks
