How is this view supported by the text you have studied?

I don't really understand this question... can anyone help me? I have an essay I need to hand in in three days and I don't understand this question...

usually the books you will have read imply that in order to 'belong' in 'society' you have to forfiet some individuality or your 'true identity'.

I would argue such a propositon is at best non-sequiturial, and at worst, downright fatuous.

But whatever your opinion just use alot of supporting quotes and examples from the text, that's where the high marks come from.

not sure if this is right or not, but i think the question is telling you to discuss the dilemma one faces when choosing to belong or not belong. i.e. whether one should forgo their individuality and conform or maintain that and be excluded. i reckon "bend it like beckham" would be a very good text to use.
