To Ext 1 or not to ext 1 in HSC (1 Viewer)

not really related but.

i'm doing 13u atm with ext1 maths, say i drop a 2u sub and leave 11, since the hsc only counts top 10, would there be a point in doing ext1 maths?

I have the same opinion ...

im not doing well at all in ext 1 and this leaves me with two choices

If I drop Maths Ext 1 in Year 12 (making it 10 units) it would make it easier for me and i dont have to wake up at nearly 7am in the morning just to make it harder for me and i can focus all on 2U maths ...

If I decide to do Ext 1 in my HSC (making it 11 units), it will scale up my UAI, BUT it will both interfere with my 2Unit Maths studies and it may also affect my 2Unit mark, does it ?

If you're doing badly in 3u maths it's not going to scale you up at all

Your in year 11 so its still too early to decide. Just keep going with Ext one until the end of the year and see how you go.

Also if your doing 3 unit, it does not interfere with 2 unit as 3 unit is just extending on 2 unit which means it will help you with your 2 unit as well.

A 3 unit student should find most of the 2 unit content fairly straight forward. If you are not doing well in 2 unit, then it it probably wasn't a good idea to take up 3 unit. If that's the case, you should drop 3 unit now and concentrate on improving your 2 unit.

If you're doing fine in 2 unit, then it may just be a case of deciding whether you want to continue the extension or not. If you want your 3 unit to contribute to our UAI, put some effort in and get some better results in the trials and final exams. If you haven't been doing well in your last few assessments for extension maths, now's the time to step it up and improve yourself.

im my last asessment , i got 80% in 2Unit while i got a bad 5/42 (10% approx.) in Extentsion 1 .... damn circle geometry .... but will Ext 1 have ANY negative impact on 2 Unit at all ?

No negative impact on mathematics, but your (the cohorts) performance in mathematics affects extension 1.

ur still in yr 11, after term 3 nothing counts anymore... so stick with it for a while. my friend got 8% in first yr12 assessment and 23% in the half yearlies and still hasn't dropped (but if he gets below 80% in the next one, he'll get a second N award)... so it doesn't really matter yet for you...
but if you really are finding it hard or you dont like it then DROP cos, you wont try harder and you'll just fall behind
