Touchpad Scroll (1 Viewer)

Can anyone tell me how to use the scoll on this type of touchpad?

I've tried dragging my thumb down the grooves, taping the grooves once then dragging but no joy.

It's a HP Pavilion laptop touchpad btw.

Well they came preinstalled so I assume that's a yes.
The touchpad itself works, just the scroll mouse 'buttons' (if you can call it that) don't seem to be doing anything.

Is there a "touchpad setup" in your control panels?

you might need to change the driver settings

check what brand the touchpad is, most likely to be Synaptics
there are only two major brands

there should be a setting allowing you to select which region of the pad is for scrolling

Ok I've got the vertical region functional on the practice window however when I tried to scroll here or any other website on Firefox, my cursor turns into this icon:

and the page won't scroll.
What does it mean and how can I fix it?

Try dragging along the grove and then hover at the bottom/top ie. don't take your finger off.

the scroll thingy doesn't work for a lot of programs because the driver software doesn't recognise where the scroll bar is

does it work for windows explorer

Yep works for Windows Explorer.
Pity that it doesn't work for other programs as well eh? Kind of defeats the purpose of a touchpad. I wish they had buttons for the scroll instead.
