To trans, i know they take half your UAI and half of your first year uni marks

are the uni marks based on one or two lots of exams...or does it include every assessment/assignment etc all year?

Every assessment you do, could be anything ie, 2 major exams or several smaller tasks with a final exam.

If it doesnt then I am screwed... that is what I am scared of. =(

huh? are you asking if they kick you out if you don't achieve? no, they don't. and the required average is a pass (NB: some courses, such as b psychology at USYD, require you to maintain a higher average, or they'll award you with a B science)

I mean, if I wish to transfer from BCom to BCom/Law in my 1st and I somehow managed to score a distinction average and a 97+ uai, does that mean I can definitely transfer or it still depends on whether there are any vacancies?

It is similar to when you apply with your UAI, a series of people compete for the spots and those with higher rankings are more likely to get in. So the higher you score, the more likely it is you'll get in but it is never 100% certain.

well, you got a 98.75 UAI, you'd pretty much be guaranteed to get in (although it does operate like the HSC) with a D avg.
