Transferring from BioInfo to Comm/BioInfo (1 Viewer)

By some weirdness, the cap for bioinfo must have dropped a lot this year, and I've now found I'm doing bioinfo rather than eco, as I anticipated. I probably *should* have moved bioinfo lower on my preferences, but I was lazy, and it's only now I realise I do kinda like eco/comm (unfort. marks too low for commerce atm).

Anyway, first question is: is it possible to decline this one, and drop down to eco, which is later on my prefs? (worried about less offers in later round though...)

Alternatively, there is a double Comm/Eng degree (which might be a better option) - is it possible to transfer to this after 1 year even if your UAI is below 96.0? What sort of uni mark do you need to go down this route? - High Distinction ? Distinction? - and how hard would this be to achieve? Also, how much time would you lose?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

You can't just pick something down the list which isn't offered to you, so you better off accept the main round offer first. Then I think you will have to go through UAC again and shift your preference and wait for the second round offer. You are right about the less offers for later round and also the caps for second round are usually higher than the main round.

It is possible to transfer into comm/eng after a year of study. How hard it is largely depends on your effort. If you choose the courses (which in a sense like subjects) properly where you can carry over to your new degree, you wouldn't lose a year.
