go to their forums, they have like 20, 000 WWI - WWII fanatics in there that knows everything about imperial/weimar Germany.

Well here are some stuff that the treaty of versailles were resopnsible for:

1) the dispopularity of the weimar republic as it was seen as not to serve the public interest, but the obligations of the treaty of versailles.

2) Mention hitler's Twenty four point plan, where he called for the abolition of Treaty of Versaillles

3) Stressman policy of compromise towards the allies also stressed the humiliation and symbol of defeat that the weimar republic represented (remember that Stressemann followed the poolicy of fulfillment that involved too much with the Versailles Treaty). When the depression hit, Hitler was able to use this as a excuse to blame the democrats/conservatives on how they represent the symbol of defeatism.

remember there were other factors in hitlers rise to power e.g. the constitution of the weimar gov't meant that small parties existed and a majority vote was hard to get, the old elitest power bases (who hated the republic) still existed, the depression affected it too

had to do one like this... the failure of democracy in Germany. Look at the threats from both the right and left wing, and how hitler and his right wing policies got in un-noticed because everyone feared left wing attacks. Look at the Putschs (Kapp and Munich), Hitler's SA and other paramilitary groups. BUT MOSTLY pick out clauses in the Weimar constitution that allowed him to rise to power.

Also, at its lowest form, EVERYONE hated the treaty, it meant destruction of traditional germany, the were paying repartations to ENEMIES. Hitler was a new face who promised to fix all of that, so he was loved. Popular support of Nazism.

You know, I seriously dont think you need any other material besides the textbook your teachers give you.

We had an essay on that and I did well and all i did was mention the stuff from the textbook

With a question like you need to mention in your intro that although the treaty of versailes allowed hitler to come into power, there were other factors. etc

maybe the textbook would be sufficient to cover surface details but for a better essay with more content and depth, other sources need to be consulted also

which your teacher should provide.
Our teacher gave us at the beginning of the year a wide variety of textbooks, sheets and historians materials.
How are you suppposed to know the sources you get from the net are reliable?

This is a troubling area for Historians. It cannot be denied that the settlements of Versailles will have had an impact on the consequences for European peace and more importantly on the continuation (if not just survival) of the Weimar Republic.

Firstly, not by way of accident or design, Versailles legitimised Weimar's very existence. The Left and the Right had to work out a formula to work with the new system. This included Anton Drexler's fledgling NSDAP - which icluded 7th member AH.

Secondly, Versailles will have impacted on the programme and plans of the newly forming NSDAP. It will have, as with other right wing movements, focused their desires and directions.
