I am a fourth year Arts Music student with my time split between the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the main campus of the University of Sydney. I was twice the Conservatorium's candidate for President of the USYD SRC, and am a co-founder of the Independent Students' Association. Further details are available at my website, http://www.andrewquah.com/.

My campaign website is at http://vote4quah.isa-usyd.org/The University of Sydney Union represents an ideal of a university experience that is far greater than sitting on an assembly line in a degree factory. The Union should cultivate community on campus, offering students the opportunity to participate in more than just tutorials and lectures.
But our Union are cutting services in a time when VSU is looming. Of course, that means more money for protests, more money for political activity, and less money for clubs and societies, cultural activities and the other things students actually want from their Union.
To me, our Union no longer represents the ideals of student community. It is a burden on students, forced to pay exorbitant fees for what amounts to nothing. I oppose the use of thousands upon thousands of dollars in student funding, to pay for the endless protests against freeing the university community from their financial burden to the Union while they cut much-needed funding to the clubs students love.
My number one priority is to the student body. I have proven this as Chair of the Independent Students’ Association, and I will continue to work to improve our representative organisations for all students at this university.
