hey guys im trying to get into B commerce / B Science in UNSW, but the UAi cut-off (in 2007) is 95.10. But then i checked the 2006 UAi cut off and it was 93.

1. Could this be due to the introduction HSC Plus? where students get up to an extra 5 UAI points for getting band 4, 5 and 6 in certain subjects? So they raise the UAi mark to compensate for HSC pllus?

2. The people doing commerce/science are really smart?

And also, can somebody provide me the UAi cut offs for comm/science before 2006? i cant seem to find them anywhere. I though about calling UNSw, but i doubt they can help.

You have to consider your rankings in your schools rather than school marks because they get scaled depending on how your school goes in the HSC exams.

And you would probably get in even if your UAI is less than 90 because of the subjects you do, more specifically maths and english.

hmm i go to a selective school, ranked top 10 last year, so then i'll prob get in i suppose?

and i thought the unis only look at the UAI, not your subject choices?
thats really weird...

and also there's the 1st round and 2nd round offers right/ so lets say i got a 93 and i missed out on comm/science, and then in the 2nd round i can still get selected if i keep that as my first choice for subjects right?

Reason i said subjects is because UNSW has this new scheme where if you do subjects that they think benefits with the degree you are doing then you get boosted UAI.

And also im not saying that you rely soley on your school's performance, you have to perform to a certain standard as well i.e. good enough UAI.

And yes you will be selected if there are places but usually in subsequent rounds, cutoffs increase and places have decreased a lot however I dont think it's something you should worry about.
