last question to go, i need about half a page,

the question is identify why there are more metals today for people to use then 200 years ago.

i have so far

the reason for there being more metals today is that with new new technology available to diagnose and recognoise differnt compounds and alloys, we are able to seperate differnt alloys into the individula metals, and extract differnt metals from ores.


im not asking for an answer, just a way of making that longer so i have the minimum requirement of pages

The question is asking to:
Identify why there are more metals today for people to use than 200 years ago.

You could make a comparison of the different conditions available for extracting metals in the past and present. Mention in your response, extraction techniques and technology that were available during the past and present as well as mentioning a bit about increased recycling. Extraction technology is a big one, so you have to put a lot of emphasis on that. Elaborate on how reactive metals could not be separated from their ores until now, due to advancing technology. Include a short outline of the relationship between reactivity of metals and their extraction difficulty or energy to support your point. Also, I think the question is really only after individual metals, so don't elaborate on alloys too much.

In 1800 there were 12 metals that were in common use; gold, silver, copper, lead, mercury, iron, tin, platinum, antimony, bismuth, zinc & arsenic.

Furthermore these metals had been extracted in laboratories; cobalt, nickel, manganese, molybdenum, tungsten, tellurium, beryllium , chromium, uranium, zirconium & yttrium.

i know you know that back then they couldn't extract the very reactive metals (ie. group 1/2), speak about how they removed it, for example, electrolysis

Technologies have improved so that the extraction of many metals is now possible i.e talk about Aluminium, it was hard to extract in era's gone by due to the energy required to do it, and its use has only become widespread fairly recently in comparison.
