PnP has proved itself to be Plug and pray.....

the PnP on my mobo seems to have disabled itself....
No usb devices get recognised with a reboot.

I got an Gigabyte nForce2 mobo (something PRO2)

running Windows XP sp1a

please don't suggest a reformat as the solution...

Check the PnP OS setting in your BIOS. If its only USB devices, try reinstalling or updating your chipset and USB drivers.

Well, like sunny said, maybe you need updated chipset drivers.
You know the brand of your mobo ? Check its update.
Just dont flash the bios!

nah, its cool, i've flashed (and screwed up) the bios before, good ol' dual bios

it is the PRO2 gigabyte nForce mobo, there aren't any updated drivers, i'll just have to use the driver CD

have you tried plugging USB device in and then going to device manager and do a manual hardware scan for new hardware?

i think it's more of a windows problem rather than motherboard!

Good ol' single bios - the first time ive ever flashed the bios i screwed up the mobo and its prolly 6 feet under by now. :(

Not to mention chipping an AMD processor whilst trying to install a new cpu fan. :(

Also try a clean reinstall of the USB drivers...remove them , boot in safe mode, delete the hidden ones etc
