Currently in 2nd year of Mechanical Engineering at UTS but took a leave of absence for the first semester due to some family issues which also affected my grades for last year. Which unfortunately has landed me with an academic caution.
But I've been working several jobs for the past semester and am back on my own two feet for now. I was looking to transfer to either a Bachelor of Business or a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I was told the only way to transfer was through UAC which I didn't get anyway.
I've been working crazy hard to finish up all my jobs, will be back to just the one job for next sem. And haven't had any time to go in to Uni and ask anyone. And I've tried emailing the Business faculty and they keep telling me to come in which I won't be able to do for at least another week. Managed to speak to the head of Undergraduate study for Engineering and he said I could try doing electives. So instead of doing 4 Engineering subjects do two and take two electives in either Business or Communications (my second preference). Any of you guys heard of anyone doing this? He said it would better my chances of transferring to my preferred course for 2013 - but I run the risk of not being able to transfer and waste my time doing those subjects.
I also tried to enroll in subjects for this spring semester but I must have left it too late as the ones I want to do are full. Any way around this? Everything else that I want to do I can't because I haven't done the prerequisites. Engineering has a pretty restrictive course structure - any chance you think I could try and ask to still enroll in the subjects that are full?
As you can tell everything seems like a massive cluster-f*ck but I've been so busy with work. I do plan to go in as soon as possible to sort things out. But was hoping you guys could shed some light on things so I would at least know what else to look up on or to ask about when I go in.
Cheers,
Nick
