CSSA 2010 question 30
Basically, question says in NSW children are vaccinated for whooping cough bacterium, however despite the vaccination rate remaining high there has been a increase in incidence
a) Use udnerstanding of biology and eovlution to explain why incidnce increased
b) Justify why we should continue to support vaccination programs
For b), i used my answer for A, i.e. we need to devlop new vaccines periodically as the mutations of pathogens lead to a strain that cannot be prevented by 'out dated vaccines'
But then the answer talks about how vaccine programs are successful, and used small pox eradication as an example to justify for 'continued support of vaccination programs'
If the answer is right, then part a is misleading? lol
