ok, so I am stuck on this one sub point
-"evaluate the impact of its development on both society and the environment"

I am not sure on what they are asking here.
Are they asking me to talk about the developments of it since it was first discovered and *obviously* how each advancement has affected society and the environment (through it's uses)????

How has it helped society as a whole? Has it ushered in a new age of technology? Or contributed to the downfall of economies?

How is it developed with regard to the environment? Is it environmentally-friendly in it's design, that is, biodegradable? Does it decompose? Does it kill off wildlife left, right and centre? In it's production, is much waste produced? Is this production environmentally friendly?

Those should get you started. And you need to evaluate. That is to say, you need to make a judgement based on reasoning of the above information and criteria of the dot point.
