I have received my assessment task 1 results back, and I did well - I got a 37/40 - and I do not know where to go with the common module from here.

1. What should I be doing in the lead up to the comparative assessment? How should I be studying week to week for mod a? (I am doing Richard III)

2. What should I be doing for the common module during this term? I did not make any quote tables so I am a bit behind in that, so what does anyone recommend would be the best path to traverse to catch up for common mod (I am doing Orwell)

3. What should the ideal study routine be? How many hours - per week - should I be studying for English to maximise my results?

Any advice from anyone who has completed the HSC English Advanced course would be amazing!

1/ You no longer need a related text nor will you be doing a multi media so you need to write essays based on paper 1 past papers because you won’t be writing an assessment essay until the trials ( I can mark them if you wish )

2/ You need to get both texts done as soon as possible so I suggest you read LFR in English ( no fear Shakespeare ) or other means so you can know both texts effectively . You must know Shakespearean language of course but priority is to finish both texts Asap . I can send resources if it helps

3/ every day you have English at school a minimum 15 minutes reviewing the class work done that day . If nothing written read a bit more of your text or reread . As much as possible be ahead of the class . Eg they finish act 1 when you are about to finish act 2 or close .

4/devote an hour a month minimum to revise your core text and learn to write unseen comprehension in time management

5/ time management for unseen comprehension . Eg you have 45 minutes to get 20 marks therefore allocate 2 minutes a mark . So a 3 mark question in 6 minutes . Any more and you run out of time doing the 6 marker at the end .
