I am soooo pissed off! in term 4 of last year, i decided to drop ancient history, i went to my curriculem coordinator and asked if it was ok, he said yes.
i dropped it, and only today found out that i dont have enough units for a UAI. i didnt think to check if i had enough, i jsut thought it was ok co the teacher said it was.
this has happened to at least 5 girls in my year and now we all have to either take on the subject htat we have dropped before the half yearlys or not have a uai.
has nayone else had this happen? and what did you do?
i want to be a primary teacher, so i have to go to uni dont i? does anyone know of any other options that i have? coz i dont want to have to take on ancient, coz then ill have to drop photography so i can have a study period and i really love photo, plus my mum just bought me a $400 camera!

I had a friend who was told to drop a subject, but did not have enough units to do so. in the end she did have to take up drama, a course she had dropped the previous year.
Is there any chance you can do either photography or ancient on another line so they dont clash with each other?
Is there any tafe courses you can do in reguards to primary school teaching perhaps?
Just trying to help ya out. :)

There are tafe courses that you can take, but the one I know of tends to propell you into early childhood or an early childhood degree at uni - and I've heard that the prospects for career advancement later are tough if you do early childhood, because you're stuck with the littlies.

I had a similar prob I did radio broadcasting & Exporing early childhood. I specified that I wanted a UAI and the school failed to check that all my units added up and I didn't find out that I wasnt getting a uai till just before my half-yearly's. Lucky for me that the uni I applied for didn't solely rely on the UAI for entry. So I was able to use my accademic records from school and references from people to apply. Unfortunitely I didnt get in due to high demand and course placings.

see, the thing is that when i dropped ancient history, i was told that a TVET course i had decided to do in year 12 would count towards my UAI, i then found out that it didnt, so i dropped it without realising that seeing as it didnt count, i wouldnt have enough units for a UAI.
Ive decided to take on ancient history and keep photo as well, as they dont clash timetable wise. but ive missed two topics and i just missed an assesment as well. my teacher said because its the schools fault, i can submit an apeal form to the board of studies and they will have to estimate what my mark would have been based on the assesments i do for the rest of this year.
this has happened to 5 people in my year that i know of, and each of them are going to have to take on the subject that they dropped. one girl was told that it was ok if she dropped CAFS because the exploring early chilhood course that she was also doing would count towards her UAI, which isnt true.
i am just so angrey that my school has messed up so badely, and we've only found out a week before our half yearlys, and we found out from the board of studies, not our teachers. if the board hadnt told us, we probly would of never realised that we didnt have enough!
but our school has a really bad career adviser, she hasnt told us anything about anything and every other school in our area, the year 12s are having one on one interviews with their careers adviser about their future, but ours hasnt even talked to any of us!
thanx for all the info you guys gave me though. at least i have this site to help me catch up on my ancient! :)
