i would have to say graeme smith and verinda sehwag would probly open for the tests but strauss would be in with a chance and also Hershille Gibbs but he doesnt really open anymore. Michael Vaughan is playing really badly even though he is a world class player i think the others would do a much better job.

Gibbs bats at 4 for SA now with Smith and De Villiers at the top. Vaughan also bats at 4 for England so I'd go with Smith and obviously Sehwag.

Trescothick wouldn't be a bad option either but is he in the squad?

Strauss as the rock, Sehwag as the dynamo. Perfect combination.

no there not in the squad

who do you think would bat in the middle order and who would be the allrounder

lets see we have
Lara
Dravid
Tendulkar
Inzaman-ul-Haq
Younis Khan
Hershelle Gibbs
Sarwan
VVS Laxman

Then the keepers are
Brendon Mcullum
Mark Boucher
Kumar Sangakarra

Then The Allrounder's
Jaques Kalles(most probly bat in the middle order)
Andrew Flintoff
Andrew Nel

Then The Fast Bowlers
Steve Harmison
Irfan Pathan
Shoaib Akhtar
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan
Makhaya Ntini
Shaun Pollock(could also be the allrounder)
Chaminda Vaas

Then The Spinners
Harbhajan Singh
Daniel Vettori
Danish Kaneria
Muttiah Muralitharan

This is just everyone selected for either test and ODI or just the test.

ill just say that there are a few standouts in the list above...lara, dravid, inzamam and younis khan (the last 3 are in very good form judging from teh india v pakistan series recently)...also sangakarra is a handy batsmen...kallis and flintoff r both awesome....out of the bowlers AKHTAR shud definitely NOT be selected...naved ul hasan bowled very well recently...and ive always liked pollock...spinners, umm there cant b a team without Danish Kaneria...he proved himself in australia and when he played in india. Hes an awesome bowler and has developed heaps...

Um..this has been done to death, but ok, here's my world 11 again. It'd own on fast, grassy pitches. On a slower pitch, I'd switch Kumble for Flintoff. If Warne and McGrath aren't at the very top of their game, this team would destroy Australia imo.

1 Sehwag
2 Strauss
3 Lara
4 Tendulkar
5 Kallis
6 Dravid
7 Sangakarra
8 Flintoff
9 Pollock
10 Vaas
11 Muralitharan

I hope he does, he's our only genuine chance. Stephen fleming played himself out of contention, he would of been a good captain.

no vettori wont be selected as in the squad, its either kumble or singh or kaneria with murali, but unlikey singh cause they prob someone who can turn it the other way.

Vettori should be in there for the one day team at least - think of how badly he dominated australia last time we played NZ. Give Murali and kumble a run in the test, but have Vettori and Murali for the one dayers

dude,

do how many overs murali bowls for sri lanka, ever wondered why spinners are often leading wicket takers, because they bowl heaps and heaps of overs. murali is like the only bowling attack sri lanka have got and they use him a lot, like on he will handle 40 overs easy. as for kumble he is old but has an excellent record aggainst australia. vettori isnt as good as a spinner compared to muralia or kumble he is a better a batter and fielder but that really isnt what you r looking at this level.

the test 6 days but doesnt mean it will last 6 days, i would 4, depending what bowlers are selected for australia and world XI. for asutralia lee, mcgrath and warne with gillespie who can expect it to be over within 4 days, that is not to say australia will win.

of course recently the batter have been better but the scg compared to the other ptiches is the least batsman friendly to australia.

as for the one dayers, mayble vettori will replace kumble, he a better player in one dayers.
