I am feeling really sick, and have an exam tomorrow. I don't think that I'll be anywhere near recovered, but I want to do it to get it over and done with, because I hate the unit, and because I don't want to have to go and so a supplementary exam. If I get a doctor's certificate stating that I was sick, will they take that into consideration, if I do poorly?

Yes they should (but make sure you double check how this works exactly)

If your appeal is granted you can either sit the supplementary, or have the marker take into consideration your circumstances. If you think you are really going to bomb out I would probably advise you to sit a supplementary because in my opinion there is only so much lee way the marker can offer you.

See the Special Consideration policy here:

Note: you will need to prove all of the dot points outlined. A condition affecting one day does not necessarily satisfy special consideration.

Alternatively, if your test is a unit in the Faculty of Business and Economics, visit this site: http://bit.ly/uBVkHJ - this explains the entire process including supplementary exams.

Lol, yes! I ended up doing it, I wasn't as bad as I though, but I've filled out a special consideration form. Thanks for the help guys. :)
