I am sharing a model essay with a friend of mine, and I was wondering...
Would markers mark us down or whatever if we had practically the same content in our examination essays as a result of the model essay?
Any thoughts???

content wise everyone will have similar things but i would tend to lean on trying to use different sources and texts to your friend thus varying the two and avoiding the whole issue, structurally you cant really be blamed since its almost preset in what they will ask...so whilst

i don't think they will care that much, since you really weren't cheating, just helping each other. it's not like a hand in essay.

i doubt it. The markers will look at each essay as an individual response - if it fulfils outcomes, then it will get the marks. And since everyone has virtually the same sort of content - i dont' think anyone can be blamed for having essays intertextual with each other - unless it's like word for word =P

LOL! no way word for word. But we will be discussing the same texts, techniques (may vary slightly) and we have the same quotes...

I think its too late to change anyway, but *few* that makes my day :D

EDIT: Maybe in a few places our essays will be word for word :p
But that shouldn't matter all that much... right???

hmm one word of advice though, it sounds like you are preparing an essay, but remember they WILL mark you down for prepared essays rather than ones which answer the question, so whilst the basic structure would be good, memorising an essay is useless if the question is totally different...

dont mean to put you down or anything, just a warning cos one of our senior markers at our school mentioned this to us and canned us hard in our trials, and they did that last year as well

You can't really do that for the Area of Study :(

EDIT: To AsyLum:
I will be adapting the essay to the question :)
I won't just simply write down what the model essay states. I'll change introductory sentences etc and focus on the impact of the techniques to address the question.

Chances are the person who marks YOUR essay and the person who marks YOUR FRIEND's essay could be different people.

I think papers are shuffled into lots of 25 which are handed to the marker in a big LUMP. If you're unfortunate enough to be right next to someone with exactly the same essay as you.. oops.

Hmmm... I dunno, I don't think they would do anything, cos our wording will be different. Especially the introductory paragraph and the conclusion...
