Hi pplz,
I'm aspiring to do law but it's very competitive. The cutoff in UNSW was 99.3 and Sydney Uni was 99.6. So if i can get a UAI of early 90s what other options do i hav to do law beside transferring? What are the sort of requirements are needed for special admission?

And also are there other alternative UNIz with a lower UAI cutoff?
I'd b soo grateful if any of u guys hav infomation. And also if u are a law student, how many hours did u study in year 11 and 12?

The canberra universities (UC and ANU) offer law courses in the low 90's however, employment prospects arent as good. So if you want to do law the option is still there but you will have to work harder to get that first job.

You can move to the country and get about a 5 point boost.
You can try Macquarie, ANU, Wollongong, etc. - they should need only about mid-90s.
You can try gettin' some disadvantage claim or something.

Or you could go to University of Canberra and you can get into some combined courses with a UAI <91

newcastle had a cut off of 93.10 for 2003, and it probably won't go up too drastically....so that could be an option

or you can try harder and get that uai of 99.95+ and get a scholarship at usyd for law. :)
Or you could just pick a different uni, saves getting in the top 60 people of the state.

think about it... you get to not pay the hex fee for 5 years. thats like $30,000. its worth it if you really want to do law and because if you are cheap. 30k is a years work... so its like getting paid for fulltime studying. ;)

but law sucks anyway... i heard 99% of the graduates don't actually do law for their career or gets paid less than 40k a year. :p

Law is only really profitable if you own your own practice so...

some people just don't consider the facts... any job can be profitable if you're really good at it. its all about choosing the one that you'll most likely do well in not because it sounds prestigeous to be one, and also by considering how hard it is to make it to the actual career.

the thing with law is that 90% of graduates don't actually end up doing law because they are not good enough... and the people thats left, 90% don't actually get paid anymore than the average uni graduate.

while medicine is a different story... everyone who graduates becomes doctors and gets paid above average... and if you continue with your education to specialise or own your own practiCe... you easily own more than 150k a year. and if you're surgeon... hahaha... half a million plus a year. :D
